Tomomi Kumai is an Associate Certified Coach by the International Coach Federation, and a certified Intercultural Trainer by the Intercultural Communication Institute. Tomomi is passionate to provide time, a safe space, and an opportunity for people to connect, learn, and empower each other to create positive synergy. She holds an MA in Linguistics from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and coaches in English, Japanese, and Korean.
Tomomi has more than 20 years’ experience working in multicultural organizations in the USA, Japan, Korea and China. She has 10-years of experience in coaching and training professionals of different levels; C-Suite, Executive, Director, Sr Manager, Manager, Supervisor, High-Po, Individual Contributor, SVP, and VP, from Global 500 companies who work between the Western and Eastern cultures. She has worked with organizations including Apple, Wellington Management, BlackRock, Loro Piana, Nike, P&G, Amway, Boeing, Porsche, and BMW.
In her current role as a Professional Coach, her focus areas are, Strengths Based Coaching, Global Leadership, Intercultural Management and Organizational Behaviors including East-West Comparisons. In her sessions, she supports participants to become aware of their strengths, align with their values, and define the actions that will help them reach their full potential. In her sessions, she invites people to self-reflect through honest dialogue, resulting in new perspectives and choices in support of their business and personal goals.
Originally born and raised as a bi-cultural citizen (Japan and Korea) in Hiroshima Japan, Tomomi has lived in the USA, for more than 11 years, Korea 8 years, and China for 1 year. She is currently based in the Austin, TX area. After having fought her son’s brain cancer for 4 years, and letting him go after the battle, and finding her own cancer in 2022 and having gone through double mastectomy, Tomomi appreciates life itself. She enjoys nature (hiking), and exercise (running and walking), connecting with people through her coaching work, and spending time with her other son and husband.
